On October 25, the team of Pranav Mohanlal’s next, the mystery horror thriller Diés Iraé, revealed a release trailer, which gave audiences an even better idea of the physical effects that his character’s ‘family curse’ has on him. Ever since the trailer came out a few weeks ago, audiences have been convinced that Bramayugam maker Rahul Sadasivan has given Pranav his career best film and role yet. And the release trailer has only cemented this, with most commenting that the film will be sure-shot theatrical blockbuster and will attain cult status as well.

But what has caught everyone’s attention is something else. As soon as the release trailer came out, the entire team of Dies Irae, including Pranav, Rahul, actors Jibin Gopinath, Arun Ajikumar, and the producers changed their Instagram display photos to red-toned pictures of themselves and one notable addition to this trend was none other than superstar Mohanlal, whose IG DP was eerily similar to that of Pranav. And if that wasn’t enough, Rahul’s IG story was the same image.
This, of course, sparked a rumour that Mohanlal would have a cameo in the film. While most felt that this could only mean that Mohanlal will be in the film, a few think his association with the film could be limited to a voiceover for, say, a flashback, to explain the curse that Pranav’s character’s family suffered. There’s also speculation that Mohanlal maybe in a possible sequel. Any which way, fans are convinced Rahul has something exciting up his sleeve.
Dies Irae, which has the tagline ‘The Day of Wrath’ is Pranav’s first release in a lead role since last year’s Varshangalkku Shesham, although his last onscreen appearance was in L2 Empuraan, as a young Stephen/Khureshi Abraham.
