Producer Dil Raju of Sri Venkateswara Creations was in the news for several reasons over the last couple of weeks, owing to release date issues, distribution woes in Tamil Nadu for Varisu and the theatrical slots for the release of the film’s Telugu version Vaarasudu. The Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna starrer, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, releases across Telugu states on January 14. Ahead of Vaarasudu’s release, the cast, crew came together for a press meet in Hyderabad.

“We’ve all spent sleepless nights over the last couple of weeks for Varisu, Vamshi and Thaman in particular. All our efforts have borne fruit today and I am thrilled about conquering another frontier and proving ourselves in another land. When RRR won the Golden Globe award and continues to cut across barriers, it is making us all Telugus proud. Similarly, I’m happy that a Telugu team succeded with Varisu in Tamil. The response for the film has been unanimous,” Dil Raju shares.

“Even I might have slept for a few hours in a hotel, but Thaman and Vamshi restlessly worked on Varisu. I was in tears. I was last teary-eyed with the response for Bommarillu this way. We worked with Thaman on four films till now and I hope he doesn’t stress himself as much for our future films. (Thaman responds cheekily - I don’t know if I was dressed in the studio, I was certainly stressed)”

“From Brundavanam to Maharshi to Yevadu and Varisu, with every step, Vamshi has progressed as a storyteller. His strength is his writing team- Hari and Solomon. Vamshi Paidipally won’t okay a shot until he’s fully satisfied and he chases perfection,” Dil Raju says. “He’s the primary reason behind Varisu’s success. After a terrific start in Tamil, we come to the Telugu market with greater confidence. I’m sure family audiences will lap it up here; it’s a festive film meant for age groups.”

“Veera Simha Reddy is off to a great start, the other films too will have their own viewer base. Like many times in the past, I hope all films, includingVaarasudu succeeds here.” He earlier mentioned about taking a gamble by hosting a preview of Varisu for press crowds a day before the release and was thrilled to see them joyous. “I was messaging the crowd responses to Vijay garu for every crucial scene.”

Dil Raju considers veteran actress Jayasudha his lucky mascot, citing examples of their previous hits Bommarillu, Kotha Bangaru Lokam, Yevadu, Maharshi. “All her films with us are hits. When she plays a mother, everyone relates with it.” Sarathkumar, Srikanth, Shaam, Jayasudha, the director Vamshi and composer Thaman were also present at the event.
