Dileep’s Voice of Sathyanathan, which is set to be the actor’s first theatrical release since the pandemic, will not release on July 14 as scheduled. The film’s team have decided to postpone the movie’s release date to July 28.

The makers also informed that the reason they have decided to push the movie’s release is due to the “unfavourable weather” in Kerala. The State has been weathering heavy rains since the start of the month. Voice of Sathyanathan is the third movie to push its release date in July, with Kunchacko Boban’s Padmini deferring its release from July 7 to July 14, and Valatty: Tale of Tails pushing its release from July 14 to July 21.

Voice of Sathyanathan team said that as per reports, the rains will intensify in Kerala in the coming days and this would further deter the family audience, which the movie targets, from going to the theatres to watch the movie.

The team has touring the Middle East the past few days, promoting the movie that also has Joju George, Veena Nair, Anupam Kher, Makarand Deshpande and Ramesh Pisharody as part of its cast. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, its director Raffi told us that unlike the duo’s previous collaborations such as Punjabi House and Pandippada, Voice of Sathyanathan tackles a serious subject. “While it has humour, it’s not a full-length comedy,” he said, clarifying that it would appeal to the family audience as well as the youth.

With Voice of Sathyanathan pulling out of the July 14 theatrical clash, it will now mean that Kunchacko’s Padmini will have an unchallenged week-long run in Kerala. The movie, helmed by Senna Hegde, also has Aparna Balamurali and Madonna Sebastian as part of the cast. In an earlier interview with us, Kunchacko said that the film is a “relaxing” romcom that people can immediately relate to and enjoy.
