Once hiding from his local audience in Punjab, Diljit Dosanjh has managed to make his name global in today's times. This very story seems to have inspired Hollywood, which is how Diljit's life and music might now turn into a docu-series. Yes, you heard that right. We have learned that Diljit might get a docu-series of himself, and it is a Hollywood project. Here's everything you wanted to know...
Diljit Dosanjh's docu-series is likely to happen, and Hulu US is eyeing it, Mid-Day reports. "The OTT giant recognises the potential of Diljit’s story. He is an artiste who has broken barriers, from Punjabi music to Hindi cinema to the international arena. They want to capture his story from the ground up—his early struggles, how he forayed into Punjabi and Hindi movies, his music’s cross-cultural appeal, and his rise in the US. Through him, the series will explore the cultural impact of Punjabi music on a global scale," the source was quoted saying.
The talks for the docu-series began with Coachella. Diljit was the only Indian artist to perform there in 2023. Of course, the grand success of Dil-Luminati Tour in 2024 was also a major contributor to his fame and popularity. Trying to capture it all, Hulu appears to have approached Diljit and they are in talks about the documentary series. However, all the details, including when and how will the show stream in India, is also being considered.

The docu-series is likely to feature footages of Diljit's past and future tours. Apart from Diljit speaking about his own life, various celebrity interviews will also be a part of the docu-series. Diljit wants to ensure that the project does justice to both his story and retains the authenticity of Punjabi music industry. The makers hope to film the project this year itself. If things work out, it could be a turning point for Punjabi music and life representation in the US mainstream media.
