Diljit Dosanjh joins the Kantara Chapter 1 family; says he has a personal connect with Kantara

Actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty and music composer Ajaneesh Loknath welcomed popular singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh into the Kantara family on September 12. Diljit joined the filmmaker and music man at a studio in Mumbai to record a song for the much-awaited prequel, Kantara Chapter 1, which will release on October2 for Vijayadashami.

Diljit records song with a 'tandav' feel

Following the recording, Diljit took to social media to share a sneak peek of the session, his first meeting with Rishab, which had both declaring their mutual love for each other. While he gave no hint about the track he sung, it is described as giving a ‘tandav’ feel. Well, the wait for the song is not long off, given that the film will be out in less than 3 weeks.

In his post, Diljit also mentioned that he has a personal connect with the 2022 Kantara, which he did not reveal, but added that when he heard the Varaha Roopam song in a theatre, he literally cried in ecstasy. He signed off saying that he can’t wait to experience Kantara Chapter 1 on October 2.

It was recently reported that the much-awaited trailer of the film is expected to be revealed on September 20. Rishab had shot the entire film in a closed set near Kundapura, with no details available in the public domain. Only 2 casting choices have been officially announced – that of Rukmini Vasanth and then, Gulshan Devaiah, who was to have collaborated with Rishab on the now shelved Rudraprayag.

The film was, however, plagued by a series of mishaps, including multiple deaths of junior artistes, although none were during the making. So much so that at one point, it was rumoured that the shooting had been stalled and that it would not make its October 2 deadline. The makers, though, remained bullish that there would be no change in release date.

Kantara Chapter 1 is the only film that Rishab Shetty has worked on since the original Kantara. While he has a lineup of projects, including Jai Hanuman, in which he plays the title character, an untitled Telugu film with Ashwin Gangaraju and a Hindi project Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
