Diljit Dosanjh went in search of pain after watching Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar, calls Ranbir Kapoor’s film an inspiration

Diljit Dosanjh went on to state that he went in search of pain after watching Imtiaz Ali-directed film, Rockstar. The singer is now working with the director in Amar Singh Chamkila. Imtiaz is back with another story of a singer after Rockstar. Diljit happened to discuss how the movie inspired him and he actually went in search of pain after watching the Ranbir Kapoor starrer.

What Diljit said

While talking to Film Companion, Diljit said that he went to search for pain after watching Rockstar. He calls himself an artist who has no pain in life. “Main toh bahut pareshaan hoon iss gal toh,” Diljit said, stating that he questions himself how can he be a good artist if he has no pain. He thought to himself after watching the film if he has any pain but couldn’t find any. Inspired by the movie, he wanted to experience the madness the character of Jordan, played by Ranbir, goes through. “Meri life mein koi dard nahi hai ji,” Diljit asserted. He recalled trying to find some kind of pain to enhance his skills as an artist. Unable to feel that pain, Diljit thought he would continue his career anyway.

On working with Imtiaz

Imtiaz joked that those who work with him on a movie experience pain. Laughing it off, Diljit said they are nothing but loving people. When Imtiaz was asked if he still believes that art comes from a broken heart, the filmmaker said that while people told him that he needs to cross the fires of hell to become successful, his thought process changed after he made Rockstar. He then understood that it cannot be so straight-forward that a heartbreak makes you a superstar.
