Rajavardan, the son of veteran actor Dingri Nagaraj, is turning producer after four films and five years in the Kannada industry. The idea, he says, is to collaborate with likeminded people from the industry to make interesting and entertaining cinema. Hiranya actor Rajavardan has been working on his banner, Barn Swallow Company, for over two years and has onboard a bunch of good writers, who have churned out several exciting scripts.
“I have four very good stories with me and am starting off with Jawa, to be directed by Devaa Chakravarthy. He has been an ardent supporter, who has, time and again given me valuable career advice. A content-rich action drama, Jawa is a story that I heard two years ago and kept haunting me. It is based on a real incident that happened in the 80s in the film industry. In fact, many people in the industry would not have known that something like this really happened, so, it will be novel for audiences too,” says Rajavardan.
While he headlines the maiden production venture of Born Swallow, the actor insists that it will not only be about making films for him. “The idea is to always cast according to the needs of the story,” he says. Jawa pairs Rajavardan with Kempegowda fame Ragini Dwivedi, who’d done a special song in his last release, Gajarama. Incidentally, this was not the first story that Rajavardan and Ragini had decided to collaborate on, and once Jawa is done, they are looking at revisiting their original plan. Jawa, meanwhile, will be made in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil.
The team also clarified that while the basic thread of the story is based on an incident in the 80s, they have adapted it to suit modern day. Ragini IPS fame Ragini is said to be playing an actress in the film, and said that she could relate to the character on a very personal note.
