Director Mahesh Narayanan on Patriot: 'This Mohanlal-Mammootty film has its high points but...'

Acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan is gearing up for the theatrical release of his upcoming movie, Patriot. In the meantime, at a discussion at a media event in Thiruvananthapuram, he discussed the positive qualities of this much awaited movie as well as each actor in it.

'Peak moments in Patriot'

The filmmaker stated that this film has a few high points, but he is unable to disclose them at this time. "Obviously, the major milestone is Mammootty and Mohanlal acting together after so long. I approached Patriot as a commercial ride, but it has a unique political side, so there are a lot of surprises," he remarked. Mahesh continued by saying that when he first wrote the screenplay for this film, he only had Mammootty in mind; the other actors got involved later.

'Stellar cast of Patriot'

When asked to describe each actor in the movie, Mahesh said that Fahadh Faasil is domineering and Kunchacko Boban is constantly in character and never loses balance. "They both belong to the same acting school, director Faasil's. Now, in contrast to others, this has a dramatic side," he said. The Maalik director further remarked that Darshana is an artiste who can be sculpted into any role. Regarding Mohanlal and Mammootty, he claimed that even after the director gives the order to cut, Mohanlal still performs spontaneously making the editor in a dilemma to edit after the director's instruction. "Mammootty is very sharp and know the exact graph of the movie," he continued.

When is Patriot release date?

According to the most recent poster, Patriot will hit theatres on April 23. With the release of posters for each of the main characters on January 25, the producers of Patriot have been building anticipation for the movie. Apart from Mohanlal and Mammootty, Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Revathy and Darshana Rajendran are playing important parts in this much-awaited film.
