Director Nag Ashwin, who helmed films like Yevade Subrahmanyam, Mahanati and a short as part of Netflix’s anthology Pitta Kathalu, is all set for the release of the biggest project in his career - Kalki 2898 AD (earlier titled Project K). The film, which is expected to release by summer, features a host of stars like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Amitabh Bachchan.

While the film’s shoot is progressing at a brisk pace, the filmmaker took a break from work to promote Kalki 2898 AD at IIT, Powai recently. A glimpse of his interaction was shared by the production house today. From the robots leading to the fest venue to the film merchandise, the makers took adequate care to give audiences a taste of the story’s ambience.

In the initial portions, Nag Ashwin jokes how he’s pestered to give updates about the film, the release date and deliver a quality product. “We’re building everything, literally from scratch, trying to engineer. Half the time, I feel I was doing engineering more than filmmaking.” Will viewers get to witness a new Prabhas? ‘“Yes, a future Prabhas,” he added cheekily.

Audiences also witnessed the first glimpse of the film and gave a thumping response to it. One among the audiences asked Nag Ashwin to make a call to Prabhas and the auditorium literally explodes as they hear the star’s voice. Several students, youngsters are seen posing at the Kalki 2898 AD stall at the venue.

Santhosh Narayanan is composing the music for the film which has cinematography by Djordje Stojiljkovic. Veteran producer Aswini Dutt, his daughters Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt are bankrolling the film under Vyjayanthi Movies. Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical rights of the film edited by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. Archana Rao is the costume designer.
