Om Raut, whose directorial career commenced with the Marathi film Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush in 2015, arrived in Hindi cinema with a bang five years later, thanks to Ajay Devgn-Saif Ali Khan’s blockbuster Tanhaji. He’s helming his first pan-Indian film based on Ramayana, Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage, that releases on June 16.
The film’s pre-release event was held in Tirupathi this Tuesday, where he spoke at length about his magnum opus. “Jai Shri Ram. How are you all? I’m so glad that so many of you have come here. We’re here to show you the final trailer of Adipurush. After this, we’ll meet in theatres on June 16. I thank Bhushan Kumar for giving me this opportunity and I’m already emotional because he knows what this means to me,” Raut shared.
“I’m not just a director but also Bhushan Kumar’s friend and brother. I know what it means for him to do something for his father. This is very important for me as well. I’ll indebted to him for everything he’s done tell to tell Ramayan on the big screen. I have said this before, but I would not have been able to make this without darling Prabhas. He is my (and our) darling,” he added.
Adipurush isn’t only the film belonging to the cast and crew, it’s of the audiences and the entire country, Om Raut stated. “It is not the film of Prabhas or Bhushan Kumar or mine but it is India’s film. It is our film. Thank you for the love, we’d need more of it as the film releases in theatres on June 16.” Produced by T Series, Retrophiles and UV Creations, the drama, which hits screens in five languages, has music by Ajay-Atul.
