Challenging Star Darshan’s new film, The Devil, will be in theatres in the early hours of December 11. The film by Prakash Veer is releasing amid much challenges – for starters, there was a considerable delay in production owing to Darshan’s legal troubles and second, the actor is not around to spearhead promotions and shoulder the responsibility of the film. In his absence, the actor’s fans have taken the lead and are making sure the release is a big celebration.

The Devil will, no doubt, open with a big opening, given the massive fan following that Darshan has. But that will only account for the initial 2-3 days. For a sustained run at the box office, they will need neutral audiences also to give the film a chance. There has been speculation that a lot of the dialogues in the film are rather pointed and meant as taunts to competitors and their fandoms, as well as the media.

Prakash, though, claims that there is no personal agenda in anything to do with the film. “I am telling a story and whatever you see in the film is what is required to tell this tale effectively. The dialogues and the lyrics are all requisites of the character and the story,” he says in conversation with Guarantee News.

The filmmaker adds that his hope is that audiences, and not just Darshan fans, will treat The Devil as a film and not bring in personal biases into it. “Yes, I understand that there are chances that the dialogues can be misinterpreted and taken out of context. But I would want audiences to only connect the dialogues to the story that is being told,” he says.
