Director Shankar is back on the sets of Kamal Haasan's Indian 2. The director dropped a BTS picture of himself where he is seen doling out instructions. It is to be noted that the director has been juggling between the sets of RC15 and Indian 2. It was only recently that Shankar had posted a picture of himself from Charminar and had stated that he was shooting for RC15. Now the news of him being back on Indian 2 sets have made fans of Kamal Haasan excited.

The shoot for the film has been going in full swing. The vigilante thriller is a sequel to the 1996 film, Indian, which also starred Kamal Haasan in the lead and was helmed by Shankar. Indian 2 features an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, Gulshan Grover, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Delhi Ganesh, Guru Somasundaram, Vennele Kishore, George Maryan, Manobala to name a few. Indian 2 will have Kamal Haasan reprising his iconic character, the freedom fighter and vigilante Senapathy. Shankar had dropped Kamal Haasan's look from the film on the occasion of his birthday. The team's last shooting schedule was held in Tirupati.

Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Rathnavelu and Ravi Varman, and editing by A Sreekar Prasad. The film was announced and the shoot began in 2019. However, a fatal accident on the sets brought the shoot to a halt. Later, the pandemic-induced lockdown and legal disputes, too, delayed the making of the film. The film is bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies.
In August 2022, Shankar had announced that he will be working on both RC15 and Indian 2 simultaneously. RC15 marks Shankar's debut in Tamil. The film, starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, SJ Suryah, Anjali, Jayaram, Sunil, Srikanth and Naveen Chandra, is based on a story penned by Karthik Subbaraj.
