Award-winning filmmaker Vasanthabalan is gearing up for his next, Aneethi. The film stars Arjun Das and Dushara Vijayan (who is basking in the success of Pa Ranjith's Natchathiram Nagargiradhu) in the lead. And now the latest we hear is that ace director Shankar will be presenting the film. An excited Arjun Das took to his social media handle to share his excitement. He wrote, "I grew up watching his films. And now to have @shankarshanmugh Sir present our film #Aneethi is an absolute honour A @Vasantabalan1 Film ! A @gvprakash Musical @officialdushara @UBoyzStudios @thinkmusicindia (sic)."

He also dropped a new poster from the film, in which he is seen in an intense look as if he is about to take revenge on someone. Dushara, too, wrote, "#Aneethi will be presented by magnum opus @shankarshanmugh sir A @Vasantabalan1 film! (sic)." Director Shankar had earlier bankrolled Vasanthabalan's award-winning film, Veyyil, which had Pasupathy, Bharath, Bhavana and Priyanka in the lead. Veyil was said to be the first Tamil film to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007 under the Tous les Cinemas du Monde category. The film also went on to bag a number of awards. The film also marked the debut of GV Prakash as a composer.

Interestingly, GV Prakash is composing the music for Aneethi as well. GV Prakash stated that he was glad to team up with Shankar after 16 long years. He shared his happiness and wrote, "#aneethi with #spictures … 16 years after veyil working with #spictures @shankarshanmugh @Vasantabalan1 (sic)." GV Prakash had played the lead in Vasanthabalan's Jail, which failed to rake in the moolah at the box office.

Arjun Das shot to fame with Lokesh Kanagaraj's action entertainer Kaithi. He was later seen in the director's super hit films Master and Vikram as well. Aneethi is considered to be the big break for Arjun Das, who had earlier played the lead in Andhagaaram.
