In a move that will delight fans of Disney’s animated works, the studios has greenlight an original animated series titled Primos, helmed by Natasha Kline. The announcement was made via the Twitter handle of Disney Branded Television, which oversees development of family entertainment content.

Kline will serve as series creator and executive producer. According to reports in Deadline, Primos will follow the story of a quirky and imaginative ten year old girl, Tater. The young girl has huge dreams and enough potential to achieve them all. In a summer when she is visited by twelve of her cousins she starts to unearth, with their help, the full extent of her abilities.

The series will feature elaborate animated sequences as well, in the form of the diary entries Tater makes to express her desires and thoughts.

Primos is inspired by the personal childhood experiences of Kline as a part of an extended family of Mexican Americans. Regarding the show, Kline has expressed her excitement at being able to represent a part of her culture onscreen.

Disney Branded Television executive Meredith Roberts lauded Kline for not only helming her very own show, but also shining the light on her culture and heritage through its story as well.

Kline has been a part of silver screen works such as Big City Greens, South Park, The Lego Ninjago Movie, Home: Adventures With Tip and Oh in the capacities of storyboard artist, director, and writer.

Each episode of Primos will be a half hour long and consist of two stories of 11 minutes each.
