Disney+ Hotstar bags digital streaming rights for Balakrishna’s Akhanda

Director Boyapati Srinu’s Akhanda has been highly anticipated by Telugu audiences. This Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer is a fantasy action-drama which is sure to create buzz. Digital streaming rights of the film have reportedly been acquired by streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar.

The filmmakers of Akhanda confirmed the title of the movie and released the teaser on April 13. The teaser, released on the occasion of Ugadi, promises an action-packed drama with powerful dialogues, an intense background score and fantastic shots. Balakrishna plays the character of Aghori in the teaser and is seen performing stunts against the backdrop of a Shiva temple. The teaser has garnered over 23 million views and has added to the hype surrounding the film.

Akhanda also stars Pragya Jaiswal and Srikanth Meka who play the female lead and the antagonist, respectively. The film will also feature Poorna in a pivotal role. Akhanda's music is composed by S Thaman of Butta Bomma fame.

Reports have stated that the shoot for the film is yet to be completed. It was also reported that Balakrishna was shooting for its action sequences in Karnataka’s Dandeli forest.

With Hotstar bagging the digital streaming rights of Akhanda and Star Maa grabbing the satellite rights, producer Miryala Ravinder Reddy is rumoured to have already recovered almost 50 per cent of the entire budget of Akhanda.

Due for a release on May 28, Akhanda is expected to stream on Disney+ Hotstar soon.
