Singer-actress Bette Midler is all set to return as Winifred Sanderson. Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy too, are part of the sequel to Disney’s 1993 Halloween classic Hocus Pocus, as the wicked Sanderson sisters Sarah and Mary respectively. The film, titled Hocus Pocus 2, will premiere exclusively on Disney+Hotstar in 2022.

In the sequel, the three young women will accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern-day Salem and figure out ways to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world.

Beginning production this fall, Hocus Pocus 2 will be directed by Anne Fletcher. Her first directorial was the 2006 movie Step Up, produced by Shankman. She had also directed movies like The Proposal and 27 dresses in the past. Lynn Harris will be taking up the role of the producer for this project.

While Shankman is directing Disenchanted for the studio, he will also work on this project as an executive producer along with Ralph Winter and David Kirschner. Steven Haft will be the co-producer for the project.

“Now more than ever, people need to laugh. We should be laughing every day, and there is so much fun to be had with these three unbelievable women playing delicious characters from such a beloved film,” says director Anne Fletcher.

“I am so grateful to be able to play a part in bringing these witches back to life, and to be working with my friends at Disney again makes it all the more special. This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first film to the next generation of viewers, and I can’t wait to get started,” she added.
