DJ Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss—the much-loved dancer-producer from Ellen DeGeneres’ recently concluded chat show, The Ellen Show—has died by suicide at the age of 40, confirm media reports.

The dancer-turned-DJ-turned-producer, who started DJing for the show back in 2014 till its conclusion in 2022, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, as per a report by TMZ. In the same report, it has been stated that the Magic Mike alum was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday, tWitch’s wife Allison Holker ran ‘frantically’ into an LAPD station and informed law enforcement officials that her husband had left their family home without his car and informed that it was out of character for him to do that.

At around 11:15 in the morning, paramedics got a medical emergency call from a hotel in Los Angeles where they found tWitch dead.

Holker told TMZ in a statement that Stephen was an ‘inspiration’ and the ‘backbone’ of their family.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us.  Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans. To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you,” Holker told the publication.

Ellen DeGeneres, who shared a close friendship with the deceased dancer, took top Instagram to express her pain over his death, writing, “I'm heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children - Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.”

tWitch got his big break when he participated, and came 2nd, in the dance reality show on So You Think Can Dance back in 2008. He then went on to act in movies such as Step Up movie and was also a part of Magic Mike XXL.

DJ Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss is survived by his wife and three children: Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia Boss.
