DNA OTT release date: The Nelson Venkatesan directed film DNA had released in theatres less than a month ago and is set to drop on OTT shortly

DNA, the latest directorial venture of Nelson Venkatesan, known for films like Farhana and Monster, released in theatres on June 20, 2025. Led by Atharvaa Murali and Nimisha Sajayan, the Tamil original film had its OTT partner in place well before its release, so it was known that the crime drama would drop on JioHotstar after its theatrical run. A streaming date, though, was not known at the time.

JioHotstar has now scheduled DNA’s streaming debut. The film will be available on the platform, via OTTplay as well, from July 19, with versions in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, as well. Written by Nelson along with Athisha Vino, DNA also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Balaji Sakthivel, Ramesh Thilak, Viji Chandrasekhar, Chetan, Riythvika, Thendral Raghunathan, Aishwarya Raghupati, Manasa Choudhary, Subramaniam Siva and Karunakaran, among many others.

Produced by Jayanthi Ambethkumar and S Ambethkumar for Olympia Movies, DNA credits its music to Sathyaprakash, Sreekanth Hariharan, Pravin Saivi, Sahi Siva and Anal Akash, while Ghibran Vaibodha has handled the background score. Cinematography was handled by Parthiban.

The film follows Anand (Atharvaa) and Divya (Nimisha), a young couple expecting their first child and the trials and tribulations they face when they discover that the child handed over to them is not their own. While the hospital denies any wrong-doing, despite DNA evidence that the child given to Anand and Divya is not their biological offspring, the couple is forced to chase a nefarious network behind this kidnapping.

Malayalam actor Nimisha, who made her Tamil film debut with Chithha, has since been since in movies like Mission: Chapter 1, Jigarthanda DoubleX, while also foraying into Hindi, with the anthology Lantrani, as well as web shows like Poacher and Dabba Cartel. Atharvaa was last seen in Karthick Naren’s Nirangal Moondru, making DNA his first release for the year. The actor has films like Address, Parasakthi and Idhayam Murali in the pipeline.
