The director watched the uncensored version of the film recently and wrote about it on his social media handle
Ace Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, who recently watched Pa Ranjith's upcoming release, Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, at a special screening in Mumbai, is all praise for the film. The Dobaraa director called Ranjith's latest film, his most favourite one and said that Natchathiram Nagargiradhu was Ranjith's most personal work and that the film was playing in Ranjith's head.
Taking to his Instagram page, Anurag wrote, "Saw Natchathiram Nagargiradhu last night. The uncensored version . This is a film playing inside Pa Ranjith’s head . There is an order in his chaotic mind. Where so many of his identities are having conversations and conflicting with each other . They just want to be and in order to be, they have to assert themselves and hold on to their grounds (sic).”
He added, “It’s a film about love and how it needs to survive above all prejudice and hatred . Rene in the film imbibes the spirit of Pa Ranjith . This is his most personal work and my favourite Pa Ranjith film. He is his most vulnerable and naked in this film. Special mention for all the wonderful actors and the music and the cinematographer and the editor and the whole crew (sic).” Pictures of Anurag hugging Ranjith after the screening have been doing the rounds on the internet.
Ranjith is back with the romance genre after a decade-long hiatus after Attakathi. Natchathiram Nagargiradhu revolves around the idea of love and the politics behind it. The film is a romantic musical with an ensemble cast that includes Dushara Vijayan, Kalidas Jayaram, Kalaiyarasan, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Charles Vinoth and Lizzie Antony to name a few. Music for the film is by Tenma, cinematography is by A Kishor Kumar and editing is by Selva RK. Natchathiram Nagargiradhu is bankrolled by Yaazhi Films and Neelam Productions. The film has received rave reviews from the critics.
