Dobaaraa: Saswata Chatterjee goes missing from Kolkata promotions and special screening

Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa was released on August 19. On August 18, the lead actress Taapsee Pannu, actor Pavail Gulati and producer Ektaa Kapoor attended a promotional press conference at a star hotel in the city. Later in the evening, Prosenjit Chatterjee hosted a special screening of the film. As per sources, the Bengali superstar hosted the screening upon the request of Anurag. However, despite playing a character in the film, Saswata Chatterjee was missing from both events. In fact, on the day of release, Taapsee and Pavail visited Kalighat Temple for Puja and aarti. 

In an interaction with Ei Samay, Saswata claimed that he was completely unaware of the events. He also confirmed that he received no invitation from the team for the screening as well. “The producer and director can let you know why. I don’t have any idea,” he said. While he was missing from the screening, several members from Tollywood, including Rituparna Sengupta and Parambrata Chatterjee, were spotted at the show. 

Many members of the Tollywood film fraternity have been working regularly in Mumbai. Jisshu U Sengupta has worked in Sita Ramam. While the other actors and actresses, including Dulquer Salman, Rashmika Mandanna and Mrunal Thakur, were part of the trailer, Jisshu can’t be seen in it. There are other instances too.
