Doctor Strange 2 will influence the events of Loki Season 2, says show's writer

Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Loki Season 1 was quite an experience, with the titular demigod experiencing the concept of the multiverse for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) history.

The show's writer Michael Waldron has now said that the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will have an influence on the way things turn out for Loki in Season 2.

"The headaches I have are probably intertwined. I mean, it’s all intertwined and it’s all stands alone. Like a great comic universe, I think that one thing certainly informs the other. You’re going to have a better time watching the next chapter of an MCU story if you’ve seen the stuff before it. But also, hopefully, even if you’ve never if you’ve walked in off the street, you’ll still have a blast. It should be good enough that it stands on its own," joked Waldron but without elaborating on how the two universes exactly intertwine.

Loki followed Tom Hiddleston's character who escaped after Avengers: Endgame and introduced the concepts of having one's multiple variants and the Time Variant Authority that influences these variants.

But how exactly the two stories complement each other will only be found out after their respective release.

Doctor Strange 2, which has Benedict Cumberbatch reprise his role as the sorcerer, is directed by Sam Raimi and will be out in cinemas on May 6. Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor also star.

Loki and the original Doctor Strange are streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
