Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hit theatres last week as one of the most-anticipated releases of the year. The Marvel movie has in turn had an impressive impact in the box office, minting large sums of money.
According to production figures, the movie collected Rs. 33.75 crore on its opening day, Rs. 30.65 crore on its second day and Rs. 30.24 crore on Sunday. Minting a total of Rs. 94. 64 crore, this gives Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness the 4th highest opening weekend for a Hollywood movie in the country.
Among other records set by the sequel in India, is becoming the biggest Hollywood opening of 2022 and the s4th highest first day collection for a Hollywood movie. The movie had set records in the country even before its release, with pre-release bookings.
Directed by Sam Raimi, the superhero horror flick from the MCU stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange/Steven Strange and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff and Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams in important roles.
The movie sees Doctor Strange and Wanda dive deep into the multiverse, which was opened by accident by the former.
