Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff along with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Steven Strange play important roles. Though it is a sequel to the Doctor Strange movie, the story will also focus well on Wanda. Director Sam Raimi is confident that the movie will leave fans of Wanda satisfied.
Talking to Rolling Stone, the director said that the movie will pick up from where Wanda’s character left off in the limited series, WandaVision (Disney+ Hotstar) and then take the character to the next level.
The director also called Doctor Strange 2 a complex movie, saying that he had to work with a number of characters as well as their multiversal version, all of who have their own stories.
Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige confirmed that the movie will feature different versions of Wanda as well as Doctor Strange. The promotional videos also featured a zombie like version of the Scarlet Witch, who featured in one of the episodes of the Disney+ Hotstar show, What If…?
The movie is also expected to feature a long list of cameos due to its multiversal setting, and Raimi also explained how he was able to strike the perfect balance between the cameos and the story.
With Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen reprising their roles as Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch respectively, the movie also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams in important roles.
The movie is set to hit theatres in the country on May 6 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
