Mammootty’s Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, was released in theatres on January 23, 2025, to mixed reviews but started on a decent note at the box office. Dominic and the Ladies' Purse box office collections

Dominic and the Ladies' Purse earned only Rs 0.50 crore at the box office on its day 5, which is its first Monday at the theatres. The film which raked in around Rs 1.8 crore on Sunday, saw the Monday collections suffering a drop. But this could be accounted to a working day.

Despite the drop, the total worldwide collections of the Mammootty-GVM film now stands at Rs 14.5 crore, putting it on the third spot in the list of box office collections of Malayalam releases in 2025. The second spot is held by Tovino Thomas’ Identity with Rs 16.84 crore, as per Sacnilk. With only Basil Joseph’s Ponman and Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Oru Jaathi Jathakam set to release later this week, the Mammootty-starrer could earn enough to beat Tovino Thomas’ action thriller in the coming days.

Mammootty headlines the film as Dominic, a police-officer-turned-private-detective. Gokul Suresh plays his assistant in the film, which also has Viji Venkatesh, Sushmitha Bhatt, Siddique, Vineeth and Vijay Babu in other supporting roles.

The film follows Dominic as he sets out to find the owner of a ladies’ purse only to get involved in a complex mystery. Even while terming the film a breezy watch, the reviews said that the probe is not captivating enough.

Identity OTT release

Meanwhile, Tovino Thomas’ Identity is set to release on ZEE5 on January 31, 2025. You can also watch the film on OTTplay Premium. The Malayalam action-thriller, which also stars Trisha, Vinay Rai and Shammi Thilakan,  is making its OTT premiere in less than a month, following its theatrical release on January 2, 2025.
