Dominic and the Ladies Purse OTT release date: Mammootty’s long-awaited detective film has a streaming update

After several months of speculation about the digital rights and streaming date of Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s Dominic and the Ladies Purse, the film is finally set to drop on OTT. Produced by the actor’s home banner and directed by popular Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, as his first in Malayalam, the film is headed to Zee5 (available via OTTplay Premium also). An official update was posted on the production house’s official handle. The film will begin streaming on December 19, 2025 in the Malayalam original version.

OTT release ends speculation around Dominic and the Ladies Purse

Dominic and the Ladies Purse was Mammootty’s first release of the year and came out on January 23. The film, which featured the actor as a detective, did not have a great run at the box office, but was expected to be on OTT in early March. The buzz was that it was definitely headed to Amazon Prime Video, but when it failed to show up on the platform, there were rumours that the digital rights had not been sold, which was further fuelled, when his Vishu release Bazooka also failed to find a streaming home.

In the film, Mammootty played Dominic, an ex-cop turned private detective, who is egged on to find the owner of a ladies’ purse that his house owner found abandoned at a hospital. The search for the purse’s rightful owner leads Dominic on the trail of a missing person and a possible murder. Can the cash and resources strapped Dominic crack this mystery?

Dominic and the Ladies Purse also stars Gokul Suresh, Sushmitha Bhat, Shine Tom Chacko, Viji Venkatesh, Sudev Babu, Lena and Meenakshi Arun, among others. Prior to the films release, Gautham was hopeful of turning it into a franchise, but given the underwhelming box office performance and the 11 months that it took for the film to strike an OTT deal, that is unlikely to happen.
