When a filmmaker known for intense socially-relevant cinema shifts genres and makes a relationship drama, it is unlikely that it will be all fluff and no substance. The filmmaker here is MansoRe, whose filmography so far includes Harivu, Nathicharami, Act 1978 and 19.20.21 – films that have won awards and critical acclaim for the subjects presented in each. With his next, Doora Theera Yaana, MansoRe is shifting gears slightly, but not completely.
He’s got the young pair of Vijay Krishna and Priyanka Kumar in a relationship drama, and sends them of on a journey to understand the true meaning of togetherness. This, he reckons, they will learn in new places, meeting new people, the experiences they share and the memories thus formed, which will remain etched for a long time. That is pretty much the gist of the film that MansoRe presented in the trailer earlier today, ahead of the July 11, 2025 theatrical release.
Helping Vijay and Priyanka along the way are characters played by Sharath Lohithashwa, Sudha Belawadi, Arun Sagar, Vijay Shobraj Pavoor, Krishna Hebbale, PD Sathish, BM Giriraj, among others, with Nathicharami’s Gowri, Sruthi Hariharan also chipping in with a pivotal cameo. The trailer is peppered with life lessons about whether or not adjustment is the key to success, that communication is vital to truly understand certain issues and so on and so forth. “In the journey of life, love is the road to destiny. When emotions drive, understanding becomes key. Life is a journey, with memories as companions,” MansoRe highlights what his film is driving at in the trailer.
In a recent conversation with OTTplay, MansoRe had categorically stated that while Doora Theera Yaana is more ‘commercial’ in how it looks and has been presented, he has not given up on his ethics as a filmmaker and that he has blended it in a way to appeal to his core audiences, as well as new audiences who may be intrigued by the subject he is exploring.
