Dragon Ball has held a special place in the hearts of all okatus (anime lovers) and for now, the franchise has come to an end. The manga came to an abrupt hiatus last year after Akira Toriyama's unfortunate demise and with it, Dragon Ball Daima, the last of his work, ends a year later, on his first death anniversary. But it is not the end for the franchise as a whole. Here's what is planned ahead...
Dragon Ball Daima, set in between Dragon Ball Super (prequel) and Dragon Ball Z (sequel), has released its final ever episode. Even if it's not perfect for the franchise, the ending is light-hearted and quite delightful. Now the question is, where will the franchise go from here?
During an interview with Mantanweb, Dragon Ball franchise's producer Akio Iyoku confirmed that the show will go on. He expressed his desire to continue Dragon Ball 'for decades to come.' There's a but, for Dragon Ball manga was on a hiatus for a year, with a new brief chapter releasing in February. This means that the revival for Dragon Ball franchise will still take time.
The animation production house Toei Animation had announced that two films are currently in production. This, the okatus have taken as a major hint that a movie on Dragon Ball could very well be in the works.
The finale episode of Dragon Ball Daima was a major hint that the franchise will be explored further. Goku and his gang never left the Demon Castle, which has led many to believe that it is this very world that will be tapped into, whenever Dragon Ball sets off again. The only question now remains, when will that be possible?
