We at OTT Play have learned that the makers have locked the digital rights to the film. A source close to the unit revealed that Netflix has acquired the digital rights for a record ₹125 crore.
This is reportedly the highest OTT deal ever for a Jr NTR film to date. His previous film, Devara, was also sold to Netflix and clocked solid streaming numbers. Sources also add that the Netflix deal includes certain conditions.
If the film underperforms, the OTT release may be brought forward with revised terms. If it performs well, the OTT release will be delayed, and the makers may receive additional benefits. This flexible OTT model is becoming a growing trend in the Telugu film industry.
It has been quite some time since fans saw Jr NTR on screen, and the shooting of Dragon has been underway for nearly a year. There were reports of a fallout between Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel, which allegedly delayed the shoot for a few months.
The buzz is that Jr NTR requested certain script changes, which initially did not go well with the director. However, the issues were sorted out, the changes were made, and the film is now back on track.
