Draupathi 2 director Mohan G claims no support, less shows: Didn’t expect Mankatha would diminish our film, no one from industry has supported
Amid low turnout, Draupathi 2 director Mohan G blamed release issues and the clash with Mankatha, claiming theatre shortages prevented the film from reaching its audience.

Director Mohan G’s latest film Draupathi 2, has been facing a massive slump at the box office, given it has been met with both underwhelming reviews, and low audience turnout. Addressing this, the director had put out a video on social media, appealing to the audience and what went wrong.
What did Draupathi 2 director Mohan G say?
In a video released on social media, Mohan G talked about the release issues of Draupathi 2. The film, which was scheduled for January 30 release, then advanced for Pongal after Jana Nayagan got postponed. But due to unavailability of theatres, Draupathi 2 released on January 23.

“We did not want to clash with Ajith's Mankatha on January 23, and hence we chose to come on January 30. But fate made us to come on January 23. We could not deliver the film properly to people. Many thought it was Pongal release, in addition to the massive fanbase for Mankatha, we could not get 9 am and 11 am shows. Even in the shows we got, we could not reach to people,” Mohan G said.
The director mentioned that though he has a set of audience, none of them knew it got released. He also added that the collections were extremely poor despite mounting a film of this scale. "No one from industry has supported this film, and I request those who watched it to spread the word. We did not expect that Mankatha would diminish our film,” he added.
Mohan G, who is known for making films that are right-leaning, said that many have been alleging that he has been making propaganda film for RSS. He also pleaded audience to watch the film and give support.
