Ayushmann Khurrana is gearing up for a comeback as the girl of everyone’s dreams yet again. Ever since Dream Girl 2 was announced, fans have been anxiously awaiting updates on the sequel to the hit 2019 film. In some good news for fans, it was reported that the film will go on floors soon.
According to a report in Mid Day, the makers were planning to start shooting for the film next month in Mumbai. A source told the portal that Ayushmann would start filming on the sequel by the middle of September in Goregaon, where a set involving a mansion was currently being built. The makers were planning to film most of the portions of the movie there, and director Raaj Shaandilyaa had decided on a 15-20 day shoot schedule. In addition to directing, Raaj has also penned the film’s script. The makers are yet to make an official announcement regarding the developments.
Ananya Panday reportedly stars as the female lead in the sequel, replacing Nushrratt Bharuccha who starred in the original. Although the same had not been officially announced as yet, the former had recently posted a video on her social media where she is seen celebrating India’s win over Pakistan in in the recent Asia Cup Group A match, with Ayushmann. Earlier reports had stated that Sara Ali Khan and Tejasswi Prakash were also in the running to star alongside Ayushmann in the film. The upcoming film also stars Paresh Rawal and Seema Pahwa in prominent roles.
The 2019 film saw Ayushman portray the role of a cross-gender actor, who gets a job at a hotline where he has to impersonate a woman’s voice. The film, which Raaj had also directed, also starred Nushrat Bharucha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Banerjee, Raj Bhansali and Nidhi Bisht and is available to stream on ZEE5.
