Actor Manoj Joshi has been an integral part of movies and television for several years now. The veteran actor recently featured in Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday's 'Dream Girl 2'. In his career spanning 3 decades, Joshi has witnessed his own share of ups and downs. Back in 2001, when he was shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Devdas', the actor saw a low phase due to health reasons.

When Manoj Joshi lost his eyesight, slipped into coma

In an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, the senior actor revealed he suffered a stroke and was bedridden for almost a year and a half.

"In 2001, I got ill. I had a stroke and I was on the hospital bed for one-and-a half year. I fell ill during the shooting of 'Devdas'. I was in coma for four days, I lost my eyesight, I couldn’t see anything for 19 days. This is my rebirth. During that time in the hospital my bank balance became zero and my wife took tuitions to support me," recalled Manoj.

How did Manoj Joshi bounce back

During the course of the same interaction, Joshi further spilled beans about how a TV show helped him bounce back in the movies.

"Then in 2003 I got a chance to act in a TV show called 'Kehta Hai Dil'. I played the role of the main villain on the show. I was suppose to star for only four days in the show but it went on and on and eventually, I became one of the lead actors on the show," mentioned the 58-year-old.

What's next for Manoj Joshi?

On the work front, Manoj will next be seen in 'Darran Chhoo'. This film marks TV actor Karan Patel's Bollywood debut. Directed by Bharat Ratan, the movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 13, 2023.
