Drishyam 2, a thriller starring actor Ajay Devgn and Tabu, has earned more than Rs 200 cr at the domestic box office, becoming only the third Hindi movie this year to do so after Brahmastra and The Kashmir Files.

Despite two other Bollywood releases, the Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahalawat–led action film An Action Hero and the Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon–led comedy-thriller Bhediya, Drishyam 2, which released on November 18, had a strong, comfortable run at the box office. The thriller brought in Rs 4.67 crore on its fourth Saturday, bringing it a respectable Rs 203.58 crore at the box office.

For the uninitiated, Drishyam 2 outperformed popular Bollywood movies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and The Kashmir Files during their opening weekends. Additionally, it might rank among the highest-grossing Hindi movies of 2022.

Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Rajat Kapoor, and Tabu reprised their roles from the thriller's first instalment in Drishyam 2. The actor Akshaye Khanna, who portrays a cop, is the fresh addition to the movie. The film Drishyam and Drishyam 2 tells the tale of Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay), a cable operator whose life revolves around movies and his family, including wife Nandini (Shriya Saran) and daughters Anju and Anu. In the movie, Tabu portrays IG Meera Deshmukh. Ajay played Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam, a man who sacrifices everything to save his family when his daughter unintentionally murders a young boy.

The movie is a remake of the well-liked Mohanlal-starring Malayalam original of the same name.
