Drishyam 2 salaries: You won’t believe just how much Ajay Devgn charged for his lead role!

Abhishek Pathak’s crime-thriller Drishyam 2 is making big moolah at the box office. But, not a lot of people know, that the star cast of the hit crime-thriller franchise has been paid impressive fees, too.

Drishyam 2, which released in theatres just (November 18) last week, is a franchise that started back in 2015 and revolves around the Salgaonkar family and a murder that one of the family members may or may not have committed.

Just like the first instalment, we have Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn playing the lead character of Vijay Salgaonkar, Shriya Saran reprises her role as Vijay’s wife Nandini, and Ishita Dutta plays the role of their anxiety-stricken daughter Anju Salgaonkar. The latest addition to the cast, however, is Akshaye Khanna who plays the character of IG Tarun Ahlawat in Drishyam 2.

The film has already raked in over 100 Crores in India on Thursday, within a week of its release, according to a news report by Koimoi.com. As the film continues to do well at the box office, here’s how much money the star cast has actually made, according to a mews report by Telly Chakkar.

New entrant Akshaye Khanna has reportedly received a fee of 2.5 crore INR for his character in the film, whereas Tabu, as the bereaved cop-mother Meera Deshmukh, got 3.5 crore INR on payday, as per the same report. The matriarch of the Salgaonkar family, Shriya Saran as Nandini, has charged 2 crore INR to reprise her role. Ishita Dutta, too, made impressive money as she has reportedly made 1.2 crore INR for her character. Rajat Kapoor made 1 crore INR for his role as Mahesh Deshmukh, while Mrunal Jadhav made 50 lakhs INR for his role.

However, half of the total budget of Drishyam 2, according to Telly Chakkar, went to the star of the movie: Ajay Devgn. The Bollywood superstar has reportedly taken home a staggering 30 crore INR to essay the role of Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 2.

In our review of the film, we thought that in Drishyam 2 “(Abhishek) Pathak has adapted the screenplay with Aamil Keeyan Khan, and they did total justice to the original script by making it grippier and edgier. And the technical credit has to go to Sudhir K. Chaudhary, the cinematographer of the film.

But it's the thrilling background score by Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) that is the catalyst for making you leave at the edge of your seat. Although the songs from the film are forgettable, the BGM is just awesome and blends perfectly with the storyline.”

For the unversed, Drishyam 2 is the official Hindi remake of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s crime-thriller of the same name.
