Dude box office collection day 4: Pradeep Ranganathan-Mamitha Baiju’s film races ahead to be Diwali winner? Bison struggles to catch up

Dude, Pradeep Ranganathan’s third film as the lead actor, has been performing well in the theatres, making the most of the long Diwali weekend. Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju plays the female lead in the Tamil film, which is increasing its gap with other Diwali releases of Mari Selvaraj’s Bison and Diesel. Here’s a breakdown of the Tamil Diwali box office collections.

Dude vs Bison box office collection

Dude, Bison and Diesel were the big Diwali releases from Tamil cinema. But young actor Pradeep Ranganathan’s film is set to be the clear winner with its steady earnings at the box office. Dude has already made Rs 63.75 crore in worldwide collections, while Bison is way behind with Rs 22.75 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The third film of Diesel, starring Harish Kalyan, is no where in the race with Rs 1.93 crore earning, as per the Sacnilk data.

On its day 4 which coincided with the festive holiday of Diwali, Dude made Rs 10 crore. This is the third straight 10 crore that the film on young love has made at the box office. Dude made Rs 10.4 cr on Saturday and Rs 10.6 crore on Sunday. The India net collections of Dude stand at Rs 40.75 crore, as per Sacnilk. On the other hand, the Dude makers have claimed that the Pradeep Ranganathan film made Rs 83 crore in four days in world collections, declaring it as a Diwali winner.

But the real test of Dude begins on Tuesday as the holidays come to an end. Helmed by Keerthiswaran, the film stars Pradeep and Mamitha as Agan and Kural, exploring their relationship. The lead pair's chemistry and the tale of young love have impressed most of the audiences, though some netizens found it certain aspects to be problematic.

However, the Tamil movie is not facing any competition from any films. The gritty Bison, starring another young star of Dhruv Vikram, made only Rs 16.25 crore in India net collections and recording its highest collection on day 4 with Rs 5.65 crore, which is around only half of what Dude amassed.  

The other major south Indian film to release for the Diwali weekend was the Telugu romantic drama, Telusu Kada. But Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Raashii Khanna’s film garnered mixed reviews and poses no threat to Dude, which appears set to be yet another hit of Pradeep Ranganathan after Love Today and Dragon.
