Dude box office collection day 6: Pradeep Ranganathan's film is eighth highest grosser in this year’s Tamil cinema; beats Retro, Tourist Family

Dude, the 2025 Tamil romantic entertainer featuring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, has been making good noise at the box office. As per the director’s speech at a press meet for the film on Wednesday, the film has already made Rs 95 crore worldwide, surpassing films like Retro and Tourist Family. This means the film has already made it to the top 10 grossers of Tamil cinema this year, currently being in the eighth position.

Dude is a recently released Tamil film, which has gone on to become director-turned-actor Pradeep Ranganathan’s hat-trick success after Love Today and Dragon. While Sacnilk reports that the film has so far made Rs 84 crore worldwide, director Keerthiswaran had claimed that Dude has made Rs 95 crore. This means it would only take a day for Dude to enter the Rs 100-crore club.

It is to be noted that Dude has already become the eighth highest grosser this year in Tamil cinema, surpassing Retro and Tourist Family for now. By the end of the week, Dude is expected to make Rs 100 crore and even surpass films like Thug Life and Madharaasi. But at the same time, while looking into the day-wise collections, as per Sacnilk, the first major dip took place on Wednesday, with Rs 3.8 crore, falling below Rs 5 crore for the first time since release.

Dude OTT release:

Dude is not expected to stream on OTT anytime soon, given that the film is currently enjoying a massive theatrical run. However, Netflix, which has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, is expected to announce the premiere date sometime in November.

The romantic entertainer also stars Sarathkumar, Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, and others. However despite its success, the film is in soup after veteran composter Ilaiyaraaja has sued the makers for using his song Karutha Machan without his permission.
