Karan Johar spills some beans on Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's Dulhania 3. Says that the film will be "re-packaged".

Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are among the most adored onscreen duos. The audience has loved Varun and Alia's association since their debut film, Student of the Year. Fans have been eagerly awaiting Varun and Alia's reunion for the third chapter of their Dulhania series, which was helmed by Shashank Khaitan. The first two installments of the franchise — Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017) — saw tremendous success at the box office.
In an Instagram Live session earlier today (November 18), Karan revealed a few details about his films. KJo, who produced Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in the first two Dulhania films, spoke about whether or not fans will see a third installment from the beloved franchise.
"Can we have Dulhania 3? We want (to see) Alia and Varun together," a fan asked Karan during the live session. In response, the filmmaker expressed his admiration for the first two movies, referring to the series as one of his "premiere franchises" as it is filled with emotions and love.
Karan said, "Dulhania is a great franchise. It's one of our premiere franchises. It's full of love and full of emotions. Shashank is a master of blending humour with emotion, and we hope to perhaps bring Dulhania back in an interesting re-packaged way.”
Earlier this year, when Varun was promoting his Amazon Prime Video film Bawaal, he spoke about the status of Dulhania 3. He said that filmmaker Shashank Khaitan is currently writing a story for him and Alia and that he would want to collaborate with Alia once more. “Shashank is on it; he is trying to crack a script that will be good enough for mine and her comeback. It’s a work in progress and we would love to work with each other again; we have spoken about it,” the actor told Pinkvilla.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, a romantic comedy released in 2014 and starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the major roles, was the first installment of the Dulhania series. Badrinath Ki Dulhania was released in 2017 and was the second installment of the series.
