Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming movie Salute, which is directed by Rosshan Andrrews, has gained entry to the International Film Festival of Rotterdam that will be held from January 26 to February 6.

According to a press release from the makers of Salute, the movie has gained a green mat entry to the prestigious film festival. Before the final selection, the committee had reportedly called the movie’s director Rosshan and also Dulquer to laud the movie. Further details of the category of the movie will be screened and the date are awaited.

Salute, which is scripted by Bobby-Sanjay duo, has Dulquer playing a cop named Aravind Karunakaran. The movie marks the first full-length police role of the actor, whose previous movie Kurup is a superhit and is currently streaming on Netflix.

The upcoming film is scheduled to hit theatres across the world on January 14. However, with cases rising due to the Omicron variant of coronavirus forcing states to resort to lockdown and shutting down of theatres, it’s unclear if the movie will release on the said date. A source close to the production team of Salute tells us that the makers are contemplating on delaying the release but will take a final call only next week.

Meanwhile, Salute also marks the Mollywood debut of Bollywood actress and model Diana Penty. The film also stars Manoj K Jayan, Saniya Iyyappan, Binu Pappu, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and Alencier Ley in pivotal roles.

In an earlier interview, Manoj, who plays brother of Dulquer’s character in the film, told us, “Ajith Karunakaran is an experienced and revered DySP, who leads the way in showing how an ideal police officer should be.”

The actor also praised the production team for shooting amid the pandemic with utmost care. “It was an unbelievable experience shooting for the movie,” said the actor. “I can’t remember a space where I got so much care, comfort and respect in recent times.”
