Dulquer Salmaan, Chemban Vinod and Soubin Shahir to team up for comedy entertainer titled Vilasini Memorial?

While Soubin Shahir’s directorial Othiram Kadakkam, starring Dulquer Salmaan, has been temporarily put on hold, the duo will apparently team up for an acting venture titled Vilasini Memorial soon.

The movie, which will be directed by debutant Praveen Chandran, is touted to be a comedy entertainer and mark the Sita Ramam’s actor’s first such role in Malayalam since Oru Yamandan Premakatha in 2019.

The yet-to-be-announced film is reportedly scripted by Deepu Pradeep, who had also penned the screenplay for Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Kunjiramayanam and Mammootty’s The Priest. Reports suggest that the movie will be extensively shot in Kannur and filming could begin later this year.

Praveen had worked as an associate director in Arun Bose’s Luca and Srinath Rajendran’s Kurup, which had Dulquer in the lead role, last year. The upcoming film will either have Luca and Kurup cinematographer Nimish Ravi or Anend C Chandran cranking the camera. Composer Govind Vasantha is also part of its technical team.

Apart from Dulquer and Soubin, the film, which has wrapped up its pre-production, will also have Chemban Vinod Jose in a pivotal role, according to reports. Dulquer and Chemban had previously teamed up in Samir Thahir’s Kali.

Meanwhile, Dulquer’s latest movie Sita Ramam has crossed Rs 50 crore in the box office and has already made him one of the few young actors in Telugu to bring in the numbers. The actor will also begin shooting for his gangster thriller King of Kotha, which is helmed by Abhilash Joshiy and written by Abhilash N Chandran. The movie, which also has Aishwarya Lekshmi and Chemban Vinod Jose, is touted to be made on a huge scale for a Malayalam film. Both King of Kotha and the untitled Praveen Chandran movie will be produced by Dulquer’s own production house Wayfarer Films.

Dulquer has also completed shooting for his webseries debut Guns and Gulaabs, which is expected to premiere on the OTT platform in January 2023. He also has R Balki’s Chup: Revenge of the Artist awaiting release.
