The makers have speeded up the promotions, and speaking in an interview with Galatta, Dulquer Salmaan stated that the narration by Selvamani Selvaraj went on for over five hours. The moment he felt the narration was finally over, the director revealed that he had only completed the first half.
“Selvamani came in with a detailed narrative that went on for hours. The moment he was done with the first half of the film, I thought there was something unique about this film, no one could imagine a period drama like this,” said Dulquer Salmaan.
Set in the late 1950s, Kaantha follows the life of a Tamil superstar in Madras, and Dulquer revealed that he personally designed the entire look of his character.
Dulquer is now a top star in Telugu cinema, and with Kaantha being the only solo release in Telugu that week, it is expected to do well. Dulquer also mentioned that the main intention behind making Kaantha was to see whether audiences would still love to watch realistic dramas set in a bygone era in this day and age.
Dulquer is known for his period dramas and has done many, but with Kaantha, he says he is moving away from such films and will next appear in a stylish Malayalam project.
