Dulquer Salmaan says he can rewatch this Shah Rukh Khan film any number of times, the only Indian movie in his top 5

After the 2024 hit film Lucky Baskhar, Dulquer Salmaan’s solo release Kaantha is just a couple of days away from hitting the screens. The Malayalam actor known for his charming looks and persona has been able to make a mark in the Telugu and Tamil industries. But what is Dulquer Salmaan’s favourite film? The actor listed his top five during a recent The Hollywood Reporter India interview, and it included Shah Rukh Khan’s all-time fan-favourite movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Dulquer on Shah Rukh Khan’s DDLJ

Popular south actor Dulquer Salmaan picked five of his favourite movies, and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was the only Indian movie to have made it to DQ’s Top 5. The Salute actor first named Goodwill Hunting, followed by A Good Year as his favourite film, which he admitted is not considered a great movie but he would someday like to have that vineyard life. He then named DDL as the one film that he could rewatch any amount of times. He next said the movie Heat, followed by a ‘sweet’ film called About Time.

Notably, but for DDLJ, all the other films are from Hollywood. But we agree with DQ, it is hard to resist a Shah Rukh film, and DDLJ more often than not tops SRK’s list.

Starring Shah Rukh and Kajol as the ultimate romantic pair, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was first released in 1995 and became one of the biggest hits. The Aditya Chopra directorial is now streaming on Netflix. SRK will be next seen in KING, the first-look of which was revealed on his 60th birthday on November 2.

Kaantha release

On the other hand, Kaantha is set to release in theatres on November 14, 2025, after getting postponed from its earlier date in September. Dulquer plays a superstar in the period film, which chronicles his rise in the movie industry in 1950s Madras and his ego clash with a film producer.

Rana Daggubati co-produces the film along with DQ that also features noted Tamil actor Samuthirakani. Bhagyashri Borse plays the female lead in the film, which is helmed by Selvamani Selvaraj.
