Dulquer Salmaan is gearing up for his second straight Telugu film, Sita Ramam. The movie, he says, stands out in terms of its visuals, which makes it best suited for theatrical viewing. During the promotions of the film in Kochi, the actor also talked about Tovino Thomas’ Minnal Murali, which skipped theatres to opt for a direct-to-OTT release.

When asked if he has thoughts about doing a film like Minnal Murali in the future, Dulquer, who turned 36 on Thursday, said, “Minnal Murali is a film that I enjoyed a lot. When they were shooting the movie, Tovi had told me that he’s playing a superhero, but it’s a ‘common man’ superhero. I was like, ‘wow’. I also love the combination of Basil Joseph and Tovino. Their movies have humour that we can relate to, it’s like a group of friends talking with each other.”

From its first teaser onwards, Dulquer says he was hooked. After watching the movie, he said it was a surprise package as Tovino’s character had depth and even Guru Somasundaram’s antagonist goes through pain and has a wonderful backstory. “It’s a big achievement for the team,” he said. “In fact, I had said that they should try to release it in theatres as it would have made for a great theatrical experience.” The Malayalam superstar also added that he wanted the team to make the sequel as soon as possible.

While many had also thrown around Dulquer’s name as another star who could ace the role of a superhero in a Malayalam film, the actor said, “When you see Tovino in that suit, he is perfect as a superhero. If I wore one, it might not suit me. I will try to be a different kind of superhero.”

Both Dulquer and Tovino, who had worked together in ABCD and Charlie, shared screen space last year in Srinath Rajendran’s Kurup. Meanwhile, Dulquer’s Sita Ramam is set to hit theatres on August 5.
