Dulquer Salmaan's upcoming releases in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu to watch out for in 2025, 2026

When Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life opened to negative reviews, it sparked a different kind of celebration on social media. Netizens were praising the Malayalam star. Dulquer Salmaan for opting out of Thug Life, hailing it as ‘Lucky Escape’ for him. Dulquer Salmaan was last seen in Lucky Baskhar, which was an emphatic success, and continues to trend on OTT. The actor has three major releases coming up and that too across languages. Kaantha in Tamil, Aakasam Lo Oka Tara in Telugu and I’m Game in Malayalam are Dulquer Salmaan’s three upcoming films set to release in 2025 and 2026.

Dulquer Salmaan's upcoming films and tentative release windows

Kaantha (Tamil) September 2025

Dulquer Salmaan, who has starred in popular Tamil films such as O Kadhal Kanmani and Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, joined hands with Selvamani Selvaraj. This will be Dulquer’s first major release after Lucky Baskhar. Kaantha, said to be a period drama, which is set during the 1950s in Madras. DQ is reportedly playing a superstar in the upcoming Tamil film, which he has also co-produced along with Telugu actor Rana Daggubati.

Aakasam Lo Oka Tara (Telugu) - December 2025

After the stellar success of the 2024 film Lucky Baskhar, Dulquer Salmaan returns to Telugu cinema with Aakasam Lo Oka Tara. Director Pavan Sadineni has also penned this film. The poster released earlier showed Dulquer Salmaan in a rural setting in traditional attire. Satvika Veeravalli will also feature in the film, which will release in multiple languages, including Malayalam and Hindi.

I’m Game (Malayalam) - March 2026

Even when he saw phenomenal success in other languages, Dulquer’s last outing in Malayalam - King of Kotha - ended as a dampener. I'm Game is touted to be a high-octane action thriller, helmed by Nahas Hidhayath, who is best known for RDX. Expectations are high for DQ, and fans are hoping that I'm Game would prove to be a game changer for Dulquer in Malayalam cinema. Antony Varghese Pepe is also a part of the film in a key role. The shooting for the film is currently underway.

Apart from these DQ-starrers, Dulquer is also backing a film titled, Lokah: Chapter One: Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen.
