Hey Sinamika, the debut film of choreographer-turned-filmmaker Brinda, will air on Colors Tamil on August 28, at 2 pm. On March 3, the film was released in theatres to mixed reviews.

Madhan Karky wrote the story for the romantic drama starring Dulquer Salman, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Kajal Aggarwal. Preetha Jayaraman shot the film, Govind Vasantha composed the music, and Radha Sridhar edited it.

Notably, the film's title is based on the Aye Sinamika song from Mani Ratnam's OK Kanmani, which featured Dulquer Salmaan.

Hey Sinamika marks Jio Studios' foray into the Tamil film industry.

"Most love stories in films end with a marriage. Hey Sinamika begins at this point. The conflicts between the main characters piqued my interest. Such stories do not require a large scale. Many moments can be created in a small room," said Dulquer, in an interview with the Hindu.

The actor had the opportunity to collaborate closely with choreographer-turned-director Brinda, with whom he has previously worked on dance sequences. "She doesn't just teach steps but thinks of each song as a short film. Most directors leave the entire song sequence to her imagination, and she comes up with several ideas to make it interesting, mostly on the spot. Each shot will contain a story and a moment. So when I found out she was going to direct, I had no second thoughts," he stated.

Hey Sinamika is one of those rare films with a predominantly female production team. While Dulquer believed the film was not envisioned through a specific lens, he was excited to be working with such a talented team. "I love that Hey Sinamika was created by a group of incredibly talented female technicians. As an RJ, my character gets to address a variety of topics, which all contributes to the depth of his writing," he spoke, in a press meet.

Brinda is the latest in a line of dance choreographers-turned-directors such as Prabhudheva and Raghava Lawrence. Thugs, her second directorial venture, is due out soon! For this film, Priyesh is the cameraman, and the music is by Sam CS of Vikram Vedha-fame.

Thugs will be released in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada languages, in addition to Tamil.
