The movie will hit theatres in October 21 after long delays
Warner Bros. has released character posters for Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated movie Dune. The movie, which is an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi novel, has had a long journey, but will finally be released in October.
The new posters highlight some of the major characters in the movie. They include Timothee Chalamet as Paul, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Zendaya as Chani, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Harkonnen and Chang Chen as Dr Yeuh.
Dune is already one of the most anticipated movies of the year with it gearing up for a release and the posters have fans craving for more. Even though a trailer was released for the film, a second trailer for the film is due to arrive soon.
Dune was initially meant to hit theatres in December 2020, but the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic stopped this from happening. The film now has a release date of October 22, 2021. Dune will be screened at the Venice International Film Festival in September, before its theatrical release.
Frank Herbert’s Dune is considered by many as the greatest sci-fi novel ever. With a massive world to explore, Villeneuve will adapt only the first half of the book. Cinematic adaptation of the book is considered a notoriously difficult task. In the 1970s, filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky spent three years developing an adaptation, but it finally ended up being cancelled due to the constantly increasing budget. David Lynch in 1984 released an adaptation of the book, but was received negatively.
