The way Denis Villeneuve sowed a seed by reprising the Dune phenomenon in the live-action world with Timothée Chalamet is an event in history that will be recalled for years. He did not just trigger a trilogy but also an entire franchise that is now branching out into several shows and movies. The first of these efforts is the show Dune: Prophecy, which has been spoken about for months now, and fans are excited to dive into it this November. As we move toward the release date of the show, featuring Indian superstar Tabu, everyone has one question: what is the future of the show? Will it remain strictly a prequel, or could it bloom into something of its own? It turns out the creator and executive producer of the show are now talking about it.

Does Dune: Prophecy Have a Future?

Dune: Prophecy stars Olivia Williams and Emily Watson as the leads Tula and Valya Harkonnen, respectively. They are the ancestors of the big villain in the Dune films and also the creators of the sisterhood that eventually came to be known as the Bene Gesserit, one of the most influential forces in the movie trilogy. The show is set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, and will explore the rise of the sisterhood. Now, co-creator/showrunner Alison Schapker and executive producer Jordan Goldberg have opened up about the future of the franchise.

As per Screen Rant, when asked about what the future holds for Dune: Prophecy, Alison Schapker said, “We do have a plan, and they've been eager to hear all of it.” Jordan Goldberg added, “They want it character-driven, they want it thought-provoking, and they just asked us to constantly make it surprising, propulsive, and visually breathtaking. When you say the word Dune, Dune requires large-scale filmmaking. HBO, Max, Legendary—they never told us to pull back. They always told us to push and make it an epic, and that's what we did.”

Olivia Williams, in the same conversation, added that the sets in Hungary haven’t been destroyed yet, and joked that maybe there is a 10,000-year plan until Timothée is born. Schapker, reacting to this, said, “That’s so right. We’ve got plans within plans in every way, measured in centuries. No, I mean, we do. It will come as no news that our show centers around the Bene Gesserit, but when they're called the Sisterhood, so we're in this sort of incipient organization, and then how do they become the Bene Gesserit? That is a multi-season journey to be on, and that is very much the story we wanna tell.” Goldberg added, “Their moves are generational. They are in the long game, so there's plenty of story to tell.”
