After several delays owing to the pandemic, 2021 finally saw Kannada actor Duniya Vijay turn director with the underworld subject, Salaga, which was critically acclaimed for his deft handling of the film, and did well at the box office as well. Since then, his fans have been wondering what his next project in Kannada would be.
During the lockdown in 2020, Vijay had said that he had penned a youthful love story that required actors in the age group of 18-22, which he was only looking at directing. At the time, he was looking at introducing a new lead pair with this film. But there’s been no development on that front since then and since the release of Salaga, there’s been a buzz that he would instead make a sequel to it.
The next announcement that came, though, was for an acting assignment only, with Vijay joining the team of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 107thfilm that is tentatively called #NBK107, as the antagonist. And now comes news that Vijay has finalized his next Kananda project as well. The actor took to social media to put up a poster titled VK28, denoting that it is his 28thfilm, which shows a portion of a bike with the rider, sporting a bloodied bruised hand. The poster, which teases that an announcement is due shortly, mentions Bairagee producer Krishna Sarthak as one of the names backing Vijay’s next, along with Jagadeesh Gowda.
While many of the actor’s fans were excited by the announcement, a few responded saying that the actor ought to distance himself from underworld subjects and choose better content for his next film. Especially since the buzz is that Vijay will be directing this film. Meanwhile, the actor’s Salaga, which released in early October, is yet to make its digital debut, although the rights have been sold to SunNXT.
