Durgo Rawhoshyo: Byomkesh watches Byomkesh on screen in a promotional poster

Srijit Mukherji does not shy away from surprising his viewers. Along with his Dawshom Awbotaar, his Byomkesh Bakshi web series Durgo Rawhoshyo will also drop on Hoichoi on the same date. In a recent promotional poster on the platform’s social media page, we see his Byomkesh trio – Anirban Bhattacharya, Sohini Sarkar, and Rahul Arinodoy Maitra – step out from a theatre where Satyajit Ray’s iconic Byomkesh film, Chiriakhana is running.

In Ray’s Chiriakhana, Uttam Kumar played Byomkesh. The photo shows the three of them standing in front of the theatre. The caption says, “One Byomkesh goes to watch another Byomkesh.”

Later, in a video, Anirban thanked the audience for ushering love to this photo. “All credit goes to our scriptwriter and director Srijit Mukherji. He thought of this iconic crossover. It was made to surprise our viewers and I am very happy that you all liked it. We hope you will enjoy this sequence in the web series,” said the actor. 

It was initially heard that Srijit would direct Durgo Rawhoshyo on the big screen with Shadow Films which has the rights of the text. Later, Dev joined as a co-producer and brought in Birsa Dasgupta to direct it. After the initial reports of the tiff between Srijit and Dev, the director, Anirban and Sohini went to promote Dev’s film. As per Srijit, Dev Birsa and others will join in to promote the web series as well. In a recent interview, Srijit said that there was no tiff between him and Dev and the industry is like a ‘big family’. Durga Rawhoshyo will be dropped on Hoichoi this Puja.
