Pawan Kumar’s Dvitva will bring together Puneeth Rajkumar and Trisha for the second time, after Power which released in 2014, thereby marking the actress’s return to the Kannada film industry after seven years. Produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films (who also bankrolled the KGF franchise), the movie is billed as a psychological thriller, unlike their previous outing, which was an out-and-out commercial entertainer. Dvitva is expected to go on floors in the month of September.

Over the years, Pawan has experimented with different genres and storylines for his movies that include thrillers, supernatural flicks, rom-com, black comedy, dystopian and sci-fi. In a chat with Bangalore Times, he said, “It is a concept I have been working on for many years. I wanted to tell a story that dwells more into a character and his discovery of himself. I first wrote the story and then started looking for a title that describes it the best.” Later, he came across the title Dvitva and liked what it meant and how it sounded. The title became the identity of the film for him since then. Cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, who was previously involved with movies in different languages (like Abhiyum Naanum, Boxer and The Fakir of Venice), has been roped in to crank the camera for the project.

On July 1, the makers of the film took to social media to release its impressive first look and title of the movie, which featured the graphic image of Puneeth Rajkumar. During the launch of the movie, Puneet, in a press statement, expressed his excitement on working with Pawan and his new look in the film. He said, “I’m delighted about this new journey that is about to begin with Hombale Films, which is my second home. Working with Vijay Kiragandur and team is like being surrounded by my own family.” He added that he has always been intrigued with Pawan and his works.

Puneet is currently working on James, opposite Priya Anand, while Trisha is currently working on Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus project Ponniyin Selvan, apart from awaiting the release of Raangi.
