The much-awaited adventure film Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Emily Blunt in the lead roles, is going to release in theatres and on OTT simultaneously. The movie will be accessible from July 30 this year.
Apart from selected multiplexes across India, Jungle Cruise will release on Disney+Hotstar. The Rock confirmed the news on his social media handles via a visual clip.
In the video, Dwayne was heard saying, "Now that we are coming out of COVID slowly, we've got to own this rebound. We've got to get back out there. Live the life that we want to live. Get out in theatres, watch our movies as safe as possible. But also, Jungle Cruise is a unique experience and it gives us a unique opportunity to allow everyone around the world to watch the movie how they want to watch the movie."
He captioned the video, "The most important thing with our movie was to ALWAYS take care of families around the world by giving you options to watch it."
Jungle Cruise is the story of two siblings, played by Jack Whitehall and Emily respectively. They hire a boat captain (The Rock) to take them to the Amazon river. They learn that a tree across the river has magical healing powers, which could help them.
The film, helmed by Spanish filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra, also stars Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons and Paul Giamatt in important roles. Dwayne is also producing the project along with John Fox, John David, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia and Beau Flynn.
