Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana ending explained: Does Lohith get caught in the death of his friend or does he find a way out?

In Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana, which is now out on OTT, Diganth Manchale plays Lohith, a techie with a passion for cricket, who so happens to be a southpaw. But after a string of mishaps occur to him, he’s ready to throw in the towel and jump off a building to end his ‘miserable’ life. In the knick of time, though, he’s stopped by someone, who not only talks him out of jumping, but also gets Lohith to share what drove him to this decision.

Turns out, Lohith had a ‘thing’ going on with his friend Pooja (Nidhi Subbaiah) that he was not sure if it was just a casual fling or something more serious. After all, his meetings with her are so clandestine that he had to avoid detection by all means while making it to the ninth floor of the society she lives at.

One fateful night, when Lohith and Pooja meet and have a romantic song-and-dance too, she slips and plunges to her death from the balcony, because he couldn’t haul her back up, having hurt his hand during a cricket match earlier on. Lohith’s knee-jerk reaction is to make a quick escape from the scene of the crime, since no one knows he’s there. So, he climbs on to the balcony of the adjoining flat in the hope of slipping out from there later on, after the cops process Pooja’s flat.

Next door, though, he meets Radhika (Dhanu Harsha), who claims to have come to check on her sister Samiksha, but turns out to be even bigger trouble for Lohith. Radhika suspected that her identical twin Samiksha was spilling secrets about her promiscuous ways to her husband Raghav, and gets into a fight with her sister. In the ensuing tussle, Radhika kills Samiksha, and in the course of the evening, ends up with two more murders – the latter’s boyfriend Praneeth (Sourav Lokesh) and the inspector investigating Pooja’s death (Krishna Hebbale).

In her delusion, Radhika believes that since Lohith helped her hide the bodies of Praneeth and the inspector, they could have a future together, but then she gets her karma payback. Lohith also realizes that the man who talked him off of the ledge was an innocent casualty in the drama between Radhika and Samiksha.

Directed by debutant Samarth Kadkol, the dark comedy had a good buzz going for it based on the fun promotions the team did, but the response in theatres was not as encouraging. The film, also starring Radhika Narayan and Nirup Bhandari is available on Amazon Prime Video.
